Large 18 inch, Rare Species of Eocene Fossil “Sand-Fish” from the Green River Formation, Wyoming, USA (SKU V1077):- Notogoneus cf. osculus

A creamy yellow limestone plaque that has been split and then prepared to reveal, in relief, a stunning museum standard fossil fish from Wyoming in USA. Notogoneus is one of the rarer species of fish offered from the green river fish and they are believed to have a similar lifestyle to modern day “sand- fish” that feed on the sea floor. It is also suggested that due to their rarity this species migrated to the Wyoming lakes once a year to feed and mate. This item would look amazing hung on an office wall or hung as a piece of fossil art in a modern interior. Comes with display stand and a species/locality label.
