What are we offering?
You may not know that hours of painstaking work goes into making a fossil into an aesthetic displayable piece. But as you will agree the work is worth it! We are therefore offering a museum quality preparation service to all our customers.
Types of preparation available
Mechanical Preparation: This involves the extraction of the surrounding rock with the use of vibro-tools (very much like dentists drill) and air-abrasive (mini sand blasters) machines. The picture shows one of these vibro-tools in action. Most fossils are prepared this way.
Chemical Preparation: This involves the removal of excess rock by the use of weak chemical acids, such as acetic acid. The majority of bone blocks are prepared in this way. This unfortunately takes a long time.
Costs
Our advertised prices are:-
Air Penning = £12 per hour.
Air Abrasive = £15 per hour.
Cut Bases = £3 each.
Ammonites sawn in half = £3.
FOSSIL IDENTIFICATION = FREE!!
