Whitby’s Guided Fossil Hunting Trips.&#13;&#10;Ever wondered what Whitby was like 180 million years ago?&#10;This could be the trip for you.&#10;&#10;What is the trip?&#10;This “fossil hunting trip” has been designed for complete beginners, and is designed to show people how to go about fossil collecting in a safe and responsible manner. &#10;&#10;What does the trip involve?&#10;The trip is run by Byron Blessed, a qualified palaeontologist (fossil hunter). We leave from the fossil shop “Natural Wonders” at 9:30 am prompt (unless otherwise stated). We make our way up to coastal path via Whitby’s ruined abbey, then down the the next bay south (Saltwick Bay). We make our way down the beach where a brief talk is given into how to go about fossil hunting. We then look for fossils (yes you can keep what you find!). and we head back to Whitby along the foreshore stopping every so often to take in geological features and dinosaur footprints.&#10;&#10;How long does it take?&#10;The trip is 3 miles in length and 3 hours in duration. &#10;&#10;What time does it leave?&#10;This year trips leave at either 9.00, 9.30, 10.00 or 10.30 am prompt (please check the leaving times with the dates and at the time of booking). Please come a little before so everyone can be issued with tickets, and please give plenty of time to find a car parking space.&#10;If you are wanting a breakfast before the trip please scroll to the bottom of the page for more details.&#10;&#10;What are the Costs?&#10;Adults £10 each&#10;Children £5 each&#10;Family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) £25&#10;&#10;Do we need to bring anything?&#10;Please bring sensible footwear. Trainers are not sensible for this walk. Wellies or hiking boots are. Please bring the appropriate clothing for the weather. Also you may want to bring a bag to put your finds in!&#10;&#10;How do we book?&#10;Booking is advisable, particularly during the summer school holidays.
